While actively assisting clients in areas such as security
clearance problems, background investigations, business
law and other areas in the general practice of law,
Joseph Smith seeks to assist his clients through his
specialized knowledge of Freedom of Information and
Privacy Acts (FOIPA), especially on the federal level.
As a former Special Agent and disclosure official of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Mr. Smith
seeks to aid clients by applying his extensive experience
and his knowledge of federal records systems, especially
law enforcement records, by maximizing clients' access
to those records while minimizing the delay in gaining
access and, where appropriate, avoiding the necessity
of litigation.
Furthermore, as an attorney, Mr. Smith also provides

addition, Mr. Smith uses his experience working for
the FBI in security clearances and background investigations
